Lifelong Tecumseh resident, Ruth Joy Hulin, passed away January 2, 2023 at the age of 92.
Ruth was born in Tecumseh December 3, 1930 to Mahlon Sr and Gladys McKellar. Her arrival in 1930 expanded their family which included sisters Mary Ann and Patricia, brother Mahlon Jr and later David (Hud). All of her siblings and parents preceded her in death.

Ruth was a proud 1948 graduate of Tecumseh High School. She possessed a wealth of knowledge of the town's history and enjoyed sharing it as a charter member of the Tecumseh Historical Society.

Shortly after the end of World War II, Ruth met Lavon Hulin. They were married in 1947 and shared a full life together for over 74 years before his passing in 2021. Those left to cherish her memory are her sons Steve (Diane) Hulin of Aledo Texas, Tony (Beth) Hulin of Del Rio Texas; daughters Jennifer (David) Bourland of Seminole Oklahoma and Laurie Hulin of Earlsboro Oklahoma. Grandchildren include Jeffrey (Crystal) Bourland, Holly (Jay) Sparks, Marisa Hulin, Robyn (Jake) Carey, Hannah (Eric) Scott and Sophie (Matt) Purke. Of special joy to her was being grandma to her grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren; Tanner, Hayley, Gabby, Tatum, Miranda, Liam, Finley, Amelia, Ivy, Hadley and Josie.

In addition to her love of history, Ruth took great pleasure in travel, reading, sewing and music. She was a talented and hard-working cook, seamstress and gardener. After raising her family she enjoyed traveling to many destinations across the U.S. and abroad including Australia, New Zealand, Hawaii, many U.S. national parks and historic sites, Scotland and England. Above all she was devoted to her family and was an active supporter of their activities. She was a Cub Scout Den Mother plus Team/Club Mom to countless groups that her children participated in, especially sports and FFA. You could find her at all of her children and grandchildren's ball games and recitals. She also enjoyed many years as a member of the Tecumseh Sorosis club.

A celebration of Ruth's life will he held Friday, January 13, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Resthaven Funeral Home and Memorial Park, Shawnee. A visitation will occur Thursday January 12, 2023 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Resthaven Funeral Home and Memorial Park, Shawnee.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances will be appreciated to honor her passion for preserving Tecumseh history. Memorial donations may be made to the Tecumseh Historical Society, PO Box 292 Tecumseh OK 74873.
