William Grier, son of James and Henrietta Grier, was born January 27, 1875, in Buchanan county near Easton, and departed this life April 15, 1947, at his farm home near Amazonia where he had lived for 37 years. He was united in marriage to Miss Frankie Woodward on November 1, 1899. To this union three children were born, Forrest Grier who preceded him in death in 1940, Mrs, Ethel Broce of Hoisington, Kan., and Mrs. Mabel Bauman of Amazonia. He was also preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of the home; two daughters; three grandchildren, Mabel Fern Broce, Alvin Grier Bauman and Carol Lou Bauman; one brother of Fort Worth, Tex.; and a host of other relatives and friends.

He united with the New Harmony Baptist Church near Gower at an early age and retained his member-ship there at the time of his death. He was a devoted Christian and will not be forgotten by those who knew him." Savannah Reporter and Andrew County Democrat (Savannah, Missouri), April 25, 1947
