OBITUARY - HAZEL LIESCH
The Forest Republican - April 4, 1984

Hazel Liesch, a long-time resident of Laona, died March 30, 1984, at Crandon Health Care Center at the age of 92.

The daughter of William Frederick and Ella Capitola (Webster) Allender was born at Embarrass on Sept. 16, 1891.
She moved to Laona in 1914 from Embarrass and lived there the rest of her life prior to entering the nursing home. She was a charter member of the Laona Women's Club, served on the Public Library board for 60 years, and was a 50 year member of Halcyon Chapter #187, OES. She was a member of Laona Presbyterian church and the Ladies Aid Society.

She married Walter William Liesch on Dec. 11, 1909 in Shawano. He died August 10, 1957. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a brother and three sisters.
Mrs. Liesch is survived by two daughters, Mrs. George (Mavis) Weidner of Laona and Mrs. Willard (Shirley) Mueller of Madison; six sons, Kenneth (Beatrice), Laona; William, Valparaiso, Ind.; Donald (Grace), Green Bay; Keith, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Robert (Marjorie), Madison; Bruce (Myrtle), Wayzata, Minnesota; 22 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and a great-great-granddaughter.

Visitation was from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, April 2, at Laona Presbyterian church, with an Eastern Star service at 7 p.m. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Merle Elrod and Rev. Edgar Gharis at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 3, at the church, and interment was in Laona cemetery. Halverson-Suminski Funeral Home, Crandon, was in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers included Lynn Liesch, Ken Liesch, Scott Mueller, Bill Liesch, Jerry Liesch and George Weidner.
Memorials appreciated to: Laona Presbyterian church, Ovitz-Castaldo Medical Center, or Laona Rescue Squad.
