Robert Allen "Bob" Anderson, 79, of Huntsville passed away Friday. Bob was born in Detroit April 8, 1928. He served in the U.S. Army in the 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg, N.C., for two years followed by 18 years of service in the Air Force Reserve. He received a B.S. degree in social studies from David Lipscomb University, where he was president of the student body. He attended the Nashville Law School followed by receiving his masters degree in history and social studies at Mississippi State University, followed by working toward a Ph.D. in history at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. Bob was minister at several Churches of Christ in Tennessee, Mississippi and Alabama over a period of 50 years. Locally he preached for 15 years at Mayfair Church of Christ and 15 years at Twickenham Church of Christ. Bob's teaching career started at David Lipscomb High School teaching history, followed by teaching history, political science and religion at the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. In Huntsville he taught at UAH, Calhoun and Faulkner University. After retirement in Huntsville, he taught at Roane State Community College in Harriman, Tenn. Bob served as a chaplain for the Alabama Department of Public Safety for the Huntsville post. He is survived by his wife, Jean Koger Anderson; one daughter, Robin Raville and husband Chuck and grandchildren Jason and Mathew Raville; one son, Bobby Anderson and wife Gloria and grandchildren Michael, Alex and Max Anderson.
