M. Caroline Nelson, 90, of Clinton, IA, passed away Wednesday January 18, 2023 at the Alverno.
Services will be held at 11:00AM Tuesday, January 24, 2023 at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig. Visitation will be held from 9:00AM until the service hour at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Camanche.
Caroline was born May 18, 1932 in Fulton, Illinois, the daughter of Marion Harland and Iva Ellen (Green) Adams. She was a 1950 Clinton High School graduate.
She married Ronald Johnson November 17, 1951 in Clinton, IA;
she later married Eugene Welch in 1962 in Rock, Island, IL;
then remarried Ronald Johnson in 1969 in Polo, IL;
then married Carl Nelson March 30, 2005 in Clinton, IA, he died September 15, 2020.
Caroline had been employed at Hibbard Hardware from 1952 to 1955. She had also worked for the Clinton Herald and J C Penney and she retired from Agri-King in the janitorial department in December of 2005.
She was a resident of Fulton, Illinois until moving to Clinton in 1945, living there until moving to Camanche in 2005. In 2019 she moved in with her daughter.
While living in Clinton she was a member of the Clinton Church of Christ where she taught Sunday School was active in the choir, Treasurer Class Meetings and Missionary Society. Most recently she was a member of the Lighthouse Christian Church and served as Bible School Superintendent, led the Music Praise Team, Leadership Team and Puppet Team. She was active in Girl Scouts years ago.
In addition to her husband, Carl, she was preceded in death by her parents.
