Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall: Panel 60W, Line 024.In memory of David, son of Franklin and Doris Edmunds Ackerman. He was the brother of Peter, Paul, Shirley and Franklin W Ackerman.

David began his Vietnam tour on May 9, 1968 attached to the command of the 25th Infantry Division, 4th Battalion, 9th Infantry Regiment, Company B.

His time there was not long... He had written home and the pain he was feeling was obvious in his letters. On June 6, 1968 his young life was cut short during Operation Toan Thang II near the Phu Long bridge located just east of the Hoc Mon Village. Along with David, 8 others perished as well. Operation Toan Thang II was primarily a blocking force against the NVA from penetrating their way into the Saigon metro area.
PFC Ackerman is memorialized on the National Vietnam Veteran Memorial (see # 228369997).
