Aaron Thomas Halverson, 47, of West Des Moines, Iowa died from complications of pneumonia at Mercy West Lakes Medical Center on Wednesday, May 8, 2013. His body was cremated and a memorial service will be held on Monday, May 13 at 5:00 p.m. at Lutheran Church of Hope, 925 Jordan Creek Parkway, West Des Moines.

Aaron was born on August 9, 1965 and grew up in Denison, Iowa. He was baptized and confirmed in the United Presbyterian Church in Denison. He graduated from Denison High School with the class of 1983 and attended Western Iowa Tech, University of Southern California at Long Beach, and UNO before graduating with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Commercial Arts from Grandview College in Des Moines. Following graduation he worked as a freelance artist and also as the Creative and Artistic Director at Applied Art & Technology in Des Moines.

Though he passed at such a young age, Aaron lived a full life. He was a survivor, beating cancer at age 21 and a cardiac arrest at age 39. He had a heart of gold, and a sweet and tender soul. He also had a soft spot in his heart for Siberian Huskies. He leaves behind two of the huskies he rescued from the shelter, Cyan and Maui.

His grandparents and his mom, Mary Lou Halverson, preceded him in death. He is survived by his wonderful girlfriend, Andrea Kraft of Des Moines, his father, Gordon Halverson of Ankeny, his sisters Carrie (Gerrad) Clausen of Johnston, Heidi (Chris) Patterson of Solon, his nieces and nephew, Ellie and Gracie Clausen, Emma, Mary Kate, and Kylan Patterson and many incredible friends.
