It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Janet Abplanalp, beloved wife, mother, and friend. Janet passed away on January 12 at the age of 82.

Janet was known for her kind heart and selfless nature. She always put the needs of others before her own and was loved by all who knew her. She was an avid gardener, and her beautiful flowers brought joy to many.

Janet loved life and lived it to the fullest. Her stories include water skiing in the opening celebration for Steinaker Reservoir in 1964. She was a committed rider (and frequent chaperone) of the "Ski Bus" in the 70's.

She shared fond memories of the people and events attended as a member of the Dinah Spurs riding club. Participating in the Days of '47 parade and state competitions were always highlights.

Many knew Janet through her art store, Classic Art and Frame. She truly loved serving the people of Vernal through this store.

Janet loved art and participated in many classes, seminars and artsy-fartsy gatherings. More than painting, she enjoyed the people she associated with both in her store and in the classes she attended.

She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints.

Janet was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Tom Abplanalp, her older brother, Ronald "Ronnie" Hatch, her parents, Sammy and Leita Hatch and her sweet step-mother, Lucille Hatch.

Janet is survived by her sister Venita Loy, sons Kevin (Mary Beth) Millecam, Marc (Tanya) Millecam and Daughter-in-law Kaleen Millecam. She is also survived by seven grandchildren; Khristen (Jared) Massic, Rashael (Matthew) Dias, Bryce (Amanda) Millecam, Cameron (Megan) Millecam, Emily (Landan) Reiss, Sara (Austin) Anderson, Andrew (Hailee) Millecam and 16 great grandchildren.

Viewings will be held in both Lindon and Vernal.

The Lindon viewing will be at 11:00 am on Tuesday January 17 at the Utah Valley Mortuary (1966 W 700 N, Lindon). A Celebration of Janet's Life will take place in Lindon after the viewing.

The Vernal viewing will be at 11:00 am on Saturday, January 21 at the Rock Point meetinghouse of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (2575 N 1500 W, Vernal).

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Janet's memory to the Alzheimer's Association.
