He served with Capt. Levi J. KNIGHT's Co. Lowdens Co., GA from 15 Aug. 1838 to 15 Oct. 1838. "The DeSoto County Times" Wed., Oct.2,1991.
Civil War, Union Army, he enlisted 4 June 1864 in Co. B, 2nd FL Reg. Cav. Reg., described as 5'7" tall, dark complexion, dark eyes and light hair; he deserted @ Ft.Myers, FL 9 Aug. 1864 according to Mil. Records. Census Rec.
He was a circuit riding Methodist minister to the Cherokee Indian Tribe.
