Sidney Pool, one of the prominent residents of Julesburg, Colorado died at his home in Julesburg last Saturday, December 8 after an illness of almost 2 years. For a week previous to his death, the deceased had been in a critical condition and slight hopes were had for his recovery. The deceased was born July 3, 1849 in Putnam County, IL. on the Hennepin Road 5 miles above Henry and was age 68 years, 4 months and 8 days at the time of his death. He came to Cheyenne County, Nebraska from Illinois in the year 1886 and homesteaded near where the town of Dalton, Nebraska is now located. About 6 years ago the deceased in company with his family moved to Julesburg, engaging in the lumber business with his son Guy Pool. The business being known as the Julesburg Lumber Company of which his son Guy had been an active manager for several years. The deceased leaves to mourn his death besides his wife, 4 sons and 4 daughters who are as follows: A.C. Pool, Portland, Oregon; Guy W. Pool, Julesburg; F.J. Pool, Dalton, Nebraska; Sidney Herbert Pool, somewhere in France; Mrs. R.P. Scott, Mrs. Elbert Scott, Bridgeport, Nebraska; Mrs. W.J. Ewing and Mrs. H.R. Cloud, Dalton, Nebraska. With the exception of Sidney Herbert Pool and A.C. Pool, all the children were at the bedside of the father at the time of his death. Funeral services were held in Julesburg at the home last Monday at 9:00 o'clock, conducted by Reverend W. T. Gately, pastor of the Methodist Church and the remains accompanied by the members of the family, Reverend Gately and Miss Irma Bower were taken to Dalton, Nebraska that morning at which place funeral services were conducted at 2:00 o'clock in the afternoon and internment was made in the Dalton cemetery.
