Carolyn Thomas Murray Ammen, age 67, of Coleridge passed away on Sunday, November 24, 2019 at Randolph Hospice House.

Carolyn was born on January 2, 1952 at Randolph Hospital to Lola Poole Murray and Thomas Elvin Murray. She attended Coleridge School and graduated from Eastern Randolph High School in 1970.

She worked at the Courier Tribune for many years. Later she was an office assistant and bus driver at Coleridge Elementary where she retired as a teacher assistant after 23 years.

Carolyn married Charles Ammen on December 21, 1969. This December they would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.

She was preceded in death by her beloved son Christopher Thomas Ammen (March 9, 2017), her parents Lola Poole Murray and Thomas Elvin Murray, grandparents Verta and Carl Poole and Sarah Hayes Murray.

She is survived by her husband Charles, daughter Carla Ammen Threadgill, grandson Murray Threadgill and Emily Osborne, who are expecting her first great-granddaughter in March, granddaughter Emma Elizabeth Ammen and daughter-in-law Kristen Ammen of Asheboro, sisters Marcelle Murray of Coleridge and Phyllis Murray Owens and husband Billy of New Bern, their son Will Owens and wife Holly of Cary and their children Harrison, Emi Claire, and Collins, sister-in-law Pat Nelson and husband Reid, and niece Shannon Amundson all of Charleston, SC, and many special cousins and friends.

Carolyn's greatest joy was being a "Mimi". She enjoyed spending time watching her grandchildren grow and being involved in all that they did. She especially loved to attend Murray's wrestling matches and Emma's softball games.

Carolyn was a life long member of Concord Methodist Church. She served in many areas of her church including teaching Sunday School, singing in the choir, Parsonage Committee and Methodist Women.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday night from 6-8 PM at Loflin Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Ramseur, and other times at the residence. A celebration of Carolyn's life will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, November 27, 2019 at Concord United Methodist Church in Coleridge. Officiating will be Pastor Sam Harris and special cousin Kenneth Temple.

The family would like to extend a special "Thank you" to their church family, neighbors, friends and family and the Coleridge Fire Department for their support and care over the years. A special love and appreciation to Glynda and Zach McNeill and Josh Hodgin, as well as the Hospice House of Randolph County.
