Ricardo P. Alzadon, born August 11, 1940, in the Philippines, died at 82 years. He died peacefully on January 10, 2023, in Paintsville, Kentucky and is survived by his loving family, Fe V. Alzadon and Norma Dy Alzadon and all his children, Wes, Freida, Marika, Cesar, Jorge, Tina, Brenda and Rula and grandchildren: Amanda, Alex, Ben, Ava, Charlie, Jefferey, Jacob, Jack, Henry, Zachary, Vivian, Sofia, Elliott, Phoebe, Joaquin, Mareeka, and Justin.

Ricardo was a very proud and charismatic man and loved his family and fulfilled his lifelong dream to becoming a doctor and dedication to 'Patient First'. His grandmother, Catalina, his mother Dorotea and brother Jun, and sisters Vangie and Luz, were so proud when he graduated as Doctor of Medicine from the University of Santo Tomas and his residency in General Surgery in 1970. His journey to the USA first started at Mercy Catholic Medical Center/Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia from 1970-1974. He continued his good work in Thoracic Surgery and General Surgery at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center until he took on a role as Director, of the Emergency Department until 1997. During this time, he was tirelessly the attending staff, General Surgery at Saint Michael's and Director, Surgical Sub-Specialty at Irvington General Hospital and then Associate Attending Thoracic and General Surgery at Columbus Hospital until 2008 where he was loved by all staff for his commitment to patient care and his leadership during his tenure. He was well known for his annual staff parties treating the hospital staff like family. He was fun-loving, devoted and committed providing education to all his eight children. After retirement from surgery in 2018, he continued his good work with patients dealing with substance abuse as the honorary medical consultant at the Kentucky Addiction center with his Eldest Son Wes, prior to his illness and his final days.

Funeral services will be held locally on Friday, January 13, 2023 at 6:00pm in the chapel of the Phelps & Son Funeral Home. Father Michael Flanagan will officiate. Friends may visit at the Phelps & Son Funeral Home on Friday from 4:00-6:0pm. Entombment will be in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery & Mausoleum in East Hanover, New Jersey.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Phelps & Son Funeral Home.
