Maria Ulrike Cox McClung of Sugar Land, Texas passed away peacefully on January 6, 2023 at the age of 78 after a long battle with Parkinson's Disease. Maria was born to Eva Goldbach and Karl Hellmer in Erlangen, Germany on September 17, 1944.

Maria grew up in Berlin, and after her education worked in public relations supporting local servicemen prior to getting married and moving to Florida. Here, she had two children, Gregory Steven Cox and Andrew Douglas Cox.

After moving to Texas in 1974, she worked several years in marketing with various banks in Fort Bend County, including Texas Commerce Bank, Sugar Creek National Bank, and Comerica Bank. She was very active in the Fort Bend Community supporting the local chamber and various charities.

In the early 1990's, she met the man that she would spend the rest of her life with and her soulmate, Henry James (Jim) McClung. They were married on November 11, 1994 and enjoyed 28 years of marriage. Maria was a kind and loving person who enjoyed running, tennis, gardening, travel, classical music, and many trips to Marshalls. She adored her family and enjoyed spending quality time with her children and grandchildren.

Maria was predeceased by her parents and brother, and is survived by her children, Greg Cox and wife, Jennifer, of Sugar Land, Andy Cox and wife, Amanda, of Missouri City, and five grandchildren.

A special thank you to Elizabeth Williams and staff at Reliable Oaks Memory Care Facility in Needville for their loving and dedicated care to Maria and Jim.

The family will hold a funeral service for Maria and her husband, Jim, who passed away shortly after Maria, at the Houston National Cemetery in Houston, Texas.
