Judith Rae Matthews, age 80, of Spring, Texas passed away on Monday, January 2, 2023 from a long battle with Parkinson's, she was surrounded by her loving family.

Judith "Judy" was born on March 22, 1942, to the late Jack and Eileen Steele in Huntington, Indian. She was the second of eight children. Judy attended Sam Houston High School but moved in the middle of her senior year and graduated from Mary Caroll High School in Corpus Christi in 1962.

She met Robert "Bob" Matthews while working at Apples Pharmacy in Houston and they married soon after on January 15th, 1966. This January 15th they would be married 57 years.

Judy worked at Montgomery Wards in the cosmetic department in their first year of marriage. When her and Bob started a family in 1967 she chose to be a devoted wife and mother. They had three girls, Julie, Beckie, and Brandie.

She and Bob moved to NorthHill Estates in Spring, Texas in 1972 and planted their roots here for the majority of their lives with their daughters. Judy never met a stranger and made lifelong friends with many of her neighbors. She was Kindy, Friendly and all of her friends would say she never spoke an unkind word about anyone.

Judy's favorite thing to do was going shopping with her mother Eileen "Memaw" and wearing matching outfits. She passed the love of shopping onto her girls and there wasn't a weekend you wouldn't find her at the mall shopping with her daughters and grandchildren and having lunch at Casa Ole. She also loved to take trips with her family especially to the casinos in Louisiana where she loved to play penny and nickel slots.

Judy was special and the mother anyone would be blessed to have, This was truly shown when her and Bob were entrusted with their niece Misty for a few years, something Judy treasured in her heart. With the unexpected death of her daughter Beckie, Judy and Bob took their grandson Kyle to raise and that was a great joy for her.

She is survived by her husband Bob; daughters Julie(John)Kelley,Brandie(Donald)Norris; her sister Becky, Brother Kelly(Julie); 8 grandchildren, Tyler, Chad(Audrey)Torrey(Mason), Connor, Kyle, Alec(Kim)Mallorie,Amberlie;2 great grandchildren Durrett and Jaxon.

Meme will always be remembered for her beauty, grace and her love for children and family.
