Oldest son of James Mills Moores and Sarah Ann Kavanaugh; brother of William Jonathan Moores who is also buried in this cemetery. This cemetery was started on land donated by Millie Scrivner wife of William Jonathan Moores. Charles K. Moores has no marker in this cemetery however I have seen that more than one researcher has named this cemetery as his place of burial.
He was named after his grandfather Charles Kavanaugh of Virginia. Charles Kavanaugh was part of the Virginia Militia that fought Shawnee & Mingo warriors at the Battle_of_Point_Pleasant considered by many to be the first battle of the American Revolution. In August 1777 this same Virginia Militia relieved Ft. Boonesborough which had been under siege.
Charles Kavanaugh was also one of the delegates to the 1st Constitutional Convention in Danville,Ky.
