Her death is temporary and will be swallowed up in victory when she is raised in the likeness of Jesus Christ, Who is the First Fruits of the resurrection.
She was born on April 18, 1932 in Kimberton, PA, a daughter of the late G. Harold and Ruth VanPatten Peck. Mary Beth was a 1950 graduate of Schuylerville High School and then from M.V.I.T (M.V.C.C.).
On June 19, 1954 she was united in marriage with Edward J. Rice, son of the late Harry E. and Pearl M. Wells Rice, in Bacon Hill, NY, a loving union of 63 years until his death on February 24, 2018.
Mary Beth was a dedicated member of Living Faith Bible Church in Sauquoit where she has been a pianist/organist for 24 years up until November 6, the Sunday before her stroke. She was also active in the Christian Women's Club, the Kirkland Bird Club, the Gideon Auxiliary and was previously a longtime member of Immanuel Baptist Church in New Hartford. Her artistry has been greatly valued in her handwriting on Membership Certificates; and for Church decorations. She has been recognized in recent years by Women of Distinction.
She and her husband Ed volunteered on a weekly basis to minister the Gospel of Jesus Christ through scripture and hymns at the Sitrin Home and offered the same ministry on a monthly basis at the Presbyterian Home.
Mary Beth is survived by her children -- Dave (Jackie) of Newport, NY, Lydia of Clifton Park, NY, Nathan of New Hartford, NY, and Marvin of Methuen, MA; her sisters -- Rhoda Shaw of Denville, NJ, and Alta Shupe (Glen) of Scotia, NY, her brother -- David Peck (Mira) of Clifton Park, NY, her sister in law -- Maggie Rice of SC, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
