He was born in Ruidoso, New Mexico on April 21, 1965 to parents Mary Skip King and William Anson Thompson.
He was a longtime resident of San Antonio and a former resident of New Mexico. Steel was a jack of all trades, but one of his lifetime passions led him to the racetrack where he devoted a large portion of his life to the track and horses that he loved.
Steel was preceded in death by his father, William Anson Thompson and his sister Rhonda Jo Thompson.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday December 30, 2022 at Franklin Funeral Home at 6:30 pm.
