Cleo B. Lewis of Shawnee died Friday at at local hospital. She was 87.

She was born Aug. 8, 1911, in Parker County, Texas to Clifford H. Daniel and Mary Ann (DeBusk) Daniel.

She attended school in Millsap and Weatherford, Texas, and later went on to earn a teaching certificate in Texas.

She worked many years as a sales clerk at Moody's Department Store of Shawnee. She later worked with The Vogue Dress Shop for about five years.

She married Lyle Lavert (L.L.) Lewis on Jan. 8, 1933, in Millsap, Texas. She was a longtime member of the Church of Christ and has lived in Shawnee for many years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Teddy Lavert Lewis, two sisters, and one grandchild.

Surviving are her husband, L.L. Lewis;, a son and daughter in law, Farrell and Mary Lynn Lewis of Oklahoma City; a daughter and son-in-law, Gail and Vernon Markwell of Meeker; a daughter, Bonnie Stringer of Shawnee; three sisters, Esta Lea Ashley of Fort Worth, Texas; Para Lea Moore of Fort Worth; Modene Thomas of Midland, Texas; grandchildren and spouses, Randy and Lynda Markwell, Randy and Debbie Flowers, Mark and Lisa Armitage, Jay and Stephanie Stringer, Stephen and Britt Lewis, Dr. Jeffrey Lewis, and Thomas and Charlsie Reyenga, Jr.; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Services will be 2:30 p.m. Monday at the Church of Christ at 10th and Shawnee Streets with Elders Vernon Markwell and Harold Gibson officiating. Burial will be at New Hope Cemetery in Meeker.

Arrangements are under the direction of Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel.
