Nancy Louise (Maple) Turner, 87, passed away at home, surrounded by loved ones on November 25, 2022 after long battle with Alzheimer's. She was born June 26, 1935 in Sims to Walter C. Maple and Ova (McGraw) Maple.

Nancy was a 1953 graduate of Swayzee High School, where she played basketball, was a member in the high school band, and bonded with Barbara Echelbarger, a lifelong best friend. Later, she served as an elementary school secretary for Anderson Community School Corporation. She was a member of the Daleville Eastern Star.

Nancy also filled her time with many hobbies. She loved sewing clothes for her kids and knitting. She also loved flowers and hummingbirds, spending much of her time outdoors in her garden. She was an avid photographer and tinted pictures for a photography studio for several years. In her free time, Nancy enjoyed playing cards, reading, and spending time with her friends and family at Lake Freeman.

Nancy dedicated her life to caring for others. As well as being a former foster parent, she served in numerous local churches, including Chesterfield Linden Lane Church of God, Anderson East Side Church of God (where she headed the nursery), Anderson Bethany Christian Church, and Pendleton Fall Creek Christian Church. She touched a multitude of lives and had a tremendous impact on those around her. She was much loved and will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Ray E. Turner; her children Deborah R. Condon, Karen E. Walser (David), Beth L. Rediger, James B. Turner, and Timothy L. Turner; her grandchildren Rachelle Shaw (Scott), Amethyst Turner, Victoria Walser, Rebecca Walser, and Jonathon Walser; and two great-grandchildren, Alexa and Oliver Shaw; along with several step grandchildren and great-grandchildren; Her brother, Jerry L. Maple and children; and her brothers-in-law William E. Turner and Michael J. Turner (Laurie) survive her as well.

She was preceded in death by her parents Walt and Ova Maple; sisters-in-law Yvonne Maple, Joyce Miller, Virginia Maple, Betty Turner; and son-in-law, John Condon.

Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Friday, December 2, 2022 at Ballard & Sons Funeral Home in Daleville. Services, officiated by Elder Harry (Skip) Mitchell, will follow immediately after. Graveside services will then be held at East Maplewood Cemetery in Anderson.
