Age 86, son of the late Gleed and Mary Kostkan Taylor. He from Albion High School in 1954. He married Carol J. Stiffler on July 20, 1957. He graduated from California State Teachers College (PA) in 1957 and earned his master's degree at Eastern Michigan University in the late 1960's. He lived in Cranesville for over 50 years before moving to the Regency at South Shore LECOM facility in 2020. Vergil taught high school industrial arts for 36 years, with the last 31 being at Northwestern High School in Albion. He and his wife Carol were long-time members of Grace United Methodist Church. He enjoyed working on his small farm, following the Cleveland sports teams, doing electrical wiring on the side, and for many years bowling in a couple's league.

Vergil was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Carol; and by two brothers, Gleed Jr. and Melvin Taylor.

He is survived by four children, Jeffrey (Suzan) of West Springfield, PA, Philip (Laurie) of Jefferson, OH, Kimberly Scully (Steve) of McKean, PA, and Kevin (Dawn) of Stafford, VA; 17 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren (seven born and two yet to be born); one brother, Duane Taylor (Louise) of Albion, and many nieces and nephews.
