Reportedly he and his wife farmed in the Waggoner District, Mason County, West Virginia until they died in 1880 and 1884.
Both he and his wife are said to be buried in the Somerville-Washington Cemetery in Mason County, West Virginia. Such cemetery is not found. However, his wife is buried in the Zuspan Cemetery in Mason County. It is suspected he is also buried there in an unmarked grave.
The only child missing in the list of children is Wilhelmina Matilda Washington born around 1857. She married and had children.
