Claudine Mary Holzwarth (nee Butery)
October 26, 1934 - December 25, 2022

Holzwarth, Claudine Mary (nee Butery), went to be with her Lord and Savior on Christmas Day, Sunday, December 25, 2022.

Claudine is the beloved wife of Helmuth Holzwarth, who preceded her to Heaven; the daughter of Claude and Lura Butery who are also with the Lord; the beloved sister of James Leon Butery and Karen Ann Butery; the sister-in-law of Eric Hinrichs, who is also in Heaven; the aunt of Claudine (John) Russo; the great aunt of John Russo and Amanda Schick; and the friend of many.
Claudine was a gifted, talented, and accomplished individual. In sports, she was a certified lifeguard, loved water skiing, kayaking, and boating; and enjoyed flying in glider planes. As a highly skilled draftsman, she worked for several companies, including Monsanto, creating detailed maps and technical designs for electronic engineers. As an executive placement counselor, she matched people to the right positions and prepared them to succeed in job interviews.
Claudine's greatest talents were her expertise as a public speaker, writer, calligrapher, vocalist, and artist. Claudine gave her heart to Jesus at 12 years old, and it was always her goal to use her gifts to serve God. She dedicated her voice to God by singing in the choir. Even after she could no longer walk or stand as a result of late onset muscular dystrophy, she would arrive early at Wednesday evening choir practice and Sunday morning worship service where she struggled with the help of a wheelchair and walker to get situated in her seat before anyone else arrived. She even sang solos seated on stage in a chair. She memorized every song the choir sang so that she never had to look at the lyrics but could focus on worshiping and inspiring others to worship God.
As an artist, painting in oil and watercolor, Claudine also devoted her talent to serving God by conducting weekly art classes without charge in her home studio. In addition, her unmatched calligraphy could be seen in decor on the Church walls and often in invitations and announcements for special events.
Claudine was an avid prayer warrior, and she studied the Bible faithfully and assiduously, memorizing a great deal of scripture that directed her in living every day for the Lord. Claudine never passed up an opportunity to witness to family, neighbors, friends, workmen, and strangers. She also had the courage to stand up for what she believed. Never conforming to the world's standards, for example, she refused to attend movie theaters or watch any movies that included even a single instance of profanity.
Claudine's unwavering faith in God bolstered her strength and courage as she endured the steady decline from muscular dystrophy, macular degeneration, and a stroke. Almost in constant pain, she was always cheerful and believed that her life was in God's hands and that his purpose was being served. Her own pain increased her empathy for others, many of whom she supported spiritually, emotionally, and financially; and she gave generously and sacrificially to multiple charities and ministries both for practical help and for spreading the gospel.
Second only to her devotion to God, Claudine was lovingly devoted to her family, friends, and her succession of pet dogs - Stinky, Maxi (nickname - Termite), Cayce (nickname - Trouble), and Hope. She sacrificed her own wellbeing during years of caretaking for her husband when he suffered from ALS; and, after his death, she took into her home her father until his death with Alzheimer's disease. Claudine prayed every day of her life for her brother and sister; and she was a lifetime role model and mentor to her sister.
Claudine steadfastly held the belief that God would heal her and that she would again sing in the choir. Today Claudine is healed, and she is standing in the Heavenly choir, her voice raised in singing praises to Jesus whom she served all her life.

Services: Funeral service at the SCHRADER Funeral Home and Crematory, 14960 Manchester Road at Holloway, Ballwin, Monday, January 9, 2023 at 11:30 a.m. Interment Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.
