Raymond R. "Farmer" Stadler, 78, of 106 Kingswood Place, Girard, and formerly of Edinboro, PA, died Thursday, March 15, 2007, at his residence. He was born April 22, 1928, in Erie, a son of the late Frank and Dolly Payne Stadler. Ray was a graduate of Albion High School and served in the US Navy. Earlier in his life, he had been a bricklayer and owned his own business, B&S Construction, in Fairview. He retired from Lake City Housing. Ray had been a volunteer with the Franklin Township Fire Department, a member of VFW Post 740 in Edinboro and McKean, and VFW 4965 in East Springfield. He was also a member of the USS General Mann Association and the Allegheny Pekingese Club. Ray is survived by his wife, Nancy Morse Stadler, whom he married February 11, 1978; two sons, Tom Stadler and his wife, Cookie, of Albion, and Richard Stadler of Erie; two daughters, Rosemary Stadler of Chicago, and Norma Stadler of San Francisco; five step-children, John McLaughlin and his wife, Ann Marie, of Las Vegas, Gregory McLaughlin of Edinboro, Steven McLaughlin and his wife, Audrey, of Erie, Mike McLaughlin of Columbus, Ohio, and Lorrie Kalicky and her husband, John, of Cranesville. He is also survived by four brothers, Ron Stadler and his wife, Joy, of Girard, Burdett Locke and his wife, Kathy, of Girard, Don Stadler of Erie, and Larry Stadler of Erie; three sisters, Donna Powell and her husband, Robert, of Erie, Joyce Wesson of Arizona, and Charlotte Hendricks and her husband, George, of McKean; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Burial was in Hope Cemetery in Albion.
