She was born May 31, 1931, to Harold and Verna (Mellinger) Crain in South Bend.
On Dec. 8, 1947, she married Clarence 'Junior' Cooley, he preceded her in death on July 27, 2019.
Surviving are daughters; Janet Cooley, Sharon Cooley, son, Patrick Cooley and wife Christian. Barbara was a grandmother of six, Kelley (Ryan) Barkell, Elizabeth (Charles) Bellar, Kristen (Nathan) Betzner, Jessup, Elspeth, and Laurel Cooley. Great grandchildren Elijah and Vada Barkell, Kash, Lyla, and Reis Bellar and Katherine Martindale.
Barbara attended Peru High School and graduated from Wright's Beauty College, she was a full-time wife and mother. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church for over 50 years, involved in the choir as well as Gateway Care Bear Ministry.
Barbara had a passion for music and theater. She was a member of the Ole Olson Theater group and performed in South Pacific, Finians Rainbow Sound of Music, Carousel, Oklahoma, West Side Story, Mame and Music Man.
She participated in the Tri-Kappa Follies and Cole Porter Reviews.
A celebration of life will be held at the Mount Hope Cemetery Chapel from 10-11 a.m., on Thursday, Dec. 29. The funeral service will follow at 11 a.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to Compassion International in Barbara's memory.
