Orlan Clarence Cole, 86, died Tuesday Feb. 19 2008, at Community Hospital in McCook, Nebraska.

He was born Sept. 12, 1921, in Hitchcock County, Nebraska, the son of the late George Clarence and Myrtle (Nealeigh) Cole.

He grew up on the family farm southwest of Culbertson and graduated from Trenton High School in 1939.

On Dec. 19, 1941, Orlan married Norma Walters at Trenton, Nebraska.

On Dec. 8, 1944, Orlan entered the U.S. Army serving with the Army of Occupation in Japan during World War II.

Following his Honorable Discharge from the military on April 11, 1946, he returned to the family farm in Hitchcock County. In 1949, he moved to a farm at Minatare, where he served on the Minatare School Board. They resided there until returning to the family farm in 1958, where he was engaged in agriculture and the dairy business. He spent the remainder of his life in Hitchcock County.

He was a member of the Church of God in Trenton, Nebraska.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and by one brother, Joseph N. Cole.

He is survived by his wife, Norma Cole of Culbertson, NE; three daughters, Marjorie Brown and husband, Cermit of Culbertson, NE, Joyce Channel and husband, Albert, of Ford, KS, and Linda Qualls and husband, David of Choctaw, OK; two sons, Richard Cole and wife, Anita of Hastings, NE, and William Cole and wife, Kimberly, of Trenton; 21 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; one brother, Kenneth Cole and wife, Marianne of Indianola, NE; and one sister, Irene Solko and husband, Louis of McCook, NE; nieces; nephews; and friends.

Funeral service will be at the Church of God in Trenton, Nebraska, with the Rev Richard Karr officiating. Interment with military honors will be in the Cornell Cemetery at Trenton, Nebraska.
