On Sunday, December 18, 2022, Lucille Rae Baughan, beloved sister and aunt, passed away at age 88. She was preceded in death by her parents, John Henry and Arnette Baughan. She is survived by her brother, John Edgar Baughan (June), and a multitude of nieces, nephews, and cousins who remember her fondly. A lifelong resident of Glen Allen and a 1952 graduate of Hermitage High School, she went on to work in procurement at the Bellwood Defense Logistics Agency in Richmond from 1952 to 1989, and was awarded for her service there. Lucy was an active member of Biltmore Baptist Church for many years, where she occasionally sang in the choir and played piano and organ. In later years, she attended Hunton Baptist Church. She loved playing her piano at home and for family Christmas parties, and enjoyed attending shows and concerts. Lucy was an avid traveler and with family she visited much of the United States and Canada, including cruises to Alaska and the Caribbean, as well as along the Mississippi. She was known for her generosity, quick wit, and love of relaxed family gatherings, many of which she hosted at her lakeside home in Caroline County. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff and caregivers of Harmony of Hanover Memory Care, as well as to the caregivers of Suncrest Hospice, and to Jackie and Joy, who assisted the family in caring for Lucy at home. A celebration of the life of Lucille Rae Baughan will take place 11:30 a.m., January 20, 2022 at Bliley's, 8510 Staples Mill Road, with family receiving friends one hour prior. Interment to be private. In lieu of flowers, please donate in her memory to Biltmore Baptist Church or Hunton Baptist Church.
