Attorney. Mother of Pearl Jam co-founder-rhythm guitarist Stone Gossard. Married lawyer David W. Gossard Jr. on Christmas Day 1959 and they had three children together, daughters: Star Leslie (b. 1963) & Shelly Joan (b. 1964) and son: Stone Carpenter (b. 1966) who is the co-founder/rhythm guitarist of the influential alternative rock-grunge bands like: Green River, Mother Love Bone (MLB), Pearl Jam & Temple of the Dog (TOTD). Dave and Mary raised their children in the Capitol Hill neighborhood of Seattle, Washington. When Charles Royer ran for Mayor of Seattle, Mary worked on his campaign and once he was elected the 48th Mayor of Seattle, she subsequently worked in his administration from 1978 to 1990 (12 years and 3 terms, making Royer the longest-serving mayor in Seattle history). She moved to the administrative offices of the Seattle Center where she worked for Virginia Anderson until her retirement in 1996. She remained married to David until his death in 2020.
