Lauren Dale Anderson, 79, of Newark, IL went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 17, 2008 at the Rush-Copley Medical Center in Aurora, IL. He was born on July 6, 1928 in Aurora, IL the son of Alvin P. and Anna (Olson) Anderson.

Lauren attended Wick Elementary School in rural Newark and Newark High School. He attended Lutheran Bible Institute in 1949 where he met Betty Morris. They were married on September 23, 1950 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Lisbon, IL.

Lauren was a dairy farmer for many years on his father's farm where he lived all but two years of his life. In 1972, he started serving as the janitor at Newark High School until he retired in 1993 and was given an honorary class ring by the Class of '93. That year, he was also honored as the Grand Marshall of the Newark 4th of July parade.

Mr. Anderson served and worshipped at Helmar Lutheran Church in several capacities throughout his life. Lauren was also an avid gardener and local sports fan. In his retirement, he enjoyed traveling and was often found at his son Phil's coin shop in Morris, IL. Lauren made an instant lasting impression on anyone that he met. He was an unforgettable man who will be sorely missed by many.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Betty (Morris) Anderson of Newark, IL; his children, Daniel (Janell) Anderson of Morris, IL, Steven Anderson of Norway, IL, Paul (Gwen) Anderson of Fairfield, WA, Deborah (John) McKinney of Aurora, IL, Phillip (Valerie) Anderson of Newark, IL and Mark (Annie) Anderson of Tenino, WA; his sister Verlene (Robert) Dennis of Walker, MN; his sister-in-law, Janet Ness of Yorkville, IL; his 6 nephews, 3 nieces, 16 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren; numerous cousins and a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Anna (Olson) Anderson; and his brother, Delmar Anderson.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, February 20, 2008 at the Helmar Lutheran Church, in Newark, IL with Pastor Dennis Norby officiating. Interment will follow in the Helmar Lutheran Cemetery in Newark, IL. Friends may visit from 3 until 8 P.M. on Tuesday, February 19, 2008 at the Helmar Lutheran Church, 11935 Lisbon Rd., Newark, IL.
