John Jackson Burris, 81, gained his wings on Monday December 5, 2022, peacefully surrounded by his loved ones. He was born May 6, 1941, in Bridgeport, Texas to R.V. Burris and Katherine (Woody) Burris.

John graduated from high school and joined the United States Army, serving his country proudly during the Korean War. Upon completion of his military service, he spent 20 successful years as a truck driver for Baxter and as a mechanic working for Roger Williams for 11 years. He found joy and peace in driving a truck cross country while supporting his family, but he enjoyed fishing and was a true "tinkerer" - working on cars during his retirement. He was a member of Burleson Baptist Church and joined Santa Fe Baptist church after moving to Weatherford. John was loved by all who knew him, and we are all left with many great memories of him, he will be greatly missed.

John was preceded in death by his parents, R.V. Burris and Katherine Burris (Woody); along with his siblings, Wesley Burris, Wanda Andrus (Burris), Judy Lackey (Burris), and Robert (Bobby) Burris; also, his wife, Patricia Burris (Marsh); and granddaughter, Ashley Scarbrough.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, December 8, 2022, at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel, 913 North Elm Street, Weatherford, Texas 76086. Following the service, a procession will make its way to Pleasant Hill Cemetery, in Sunset, Texas, for a committal service. The family invites friends and family for the visitation from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 7, 2022, at the funeral chapel.
