Middletown, Dec. 31. - The funeral of Mrs. Barbara Swick will occur at the Presbyterian church in Middletown on Sunday afternoon, Jan. 2, 1916, at 2 o'clock with the Rev. J.H. Norris, officiating.

The interment will be made in Walnut Ridge cemetery, four miles south of town.

Mrs. Swick died in the home of her daughter, Mrs. Wm. Kurtz at South Pekin, Monday morning, Dec. 27, 1915, at one o'clock after a long illness from dropsy and heart trouble.

The remains were brought of Middletown Wednesday and taken to the undertaking parlor of E.C. Goff where they are viewed by friends.

Barbara Allen Croft was born in Augusta county, Virginia, October 26, 1942.

With her parents, Daniel and Sallie Croft, she came to Illinois in 1857.

The family settled on a William Shaver farm near Fancy Prairie and lived in the vicinity many years, the sons still residing near the old home place.

Miss Croft was married to Joseph Swick on January 24, 1861, the marriage occurring at the farm where J.H. Myers now lives. Mr. and Mrs. Swick made their home after their marriage largely in Menard county excepting a short period spent in Piatt couty.

The husband died at Elkhart about 35 years ago, since then Mrs. Swick has lived most of the time with her daughter, Mrs. William Kurtz, at San Jose until the last few years when the family removed to South Pekin.

Mr. and Mrs. Swick were the parents of nine children of whom only three survive. They are Greely Swick, recently of Washington state but noe a resident of this vicinity, Mrs. Stephen King, of Springfield, and Mrs. Wm. Kurtz, of South Pekin. Two brother also survive. They are Daniel and Samuel Croft living three miles south of Middletown.

Her age at death was 73 years, 2 months and 1 day.
