Mr. Lewis Donald "Don" Holland, 81, passed away on December 13, 2022, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on June 2nd, 1941, in Marion, NC to the late Lewis Alfred Holland and Helen Haynes Holland. Don served in the U.S. Army from 1959-1962. In addition, he served as Commander with American Legion Post 290 for several years. He loved restoring cars and had a passion for photography from a young age. He spent many summers in Alaska assisting missionaries with construction and other ministry needs. He was Chief of Photography at WXII and retired after 34 years of service. Don was a member of Freedom Baptist Church for several years. He loved God, his family, and his country. Don was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and will be missed deeply by all who knew him. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one granddaughter; Kaylee Erin Smith. He is survived by his wife of 60 years; Nancy Tuttle Holland, two daughters; Kaye Roberts (Jerry) of Hickory, and Cindy Smith (Erick) of Walnut Cove, four grandchildren; Erica Smith Gaulden (Tyler), Seth Holland Roberts (Jacqueline), Noah James Roberts (Darbey), and Shelley Grace Roberts, three great-grandchildren; Mason Gaulden, Ella Gaulden, and Hayden Roberts, a sister; Doris Miller of Mint Hill, NC, one nephew; Jamie Miller, and one niece; Andrea Lomas. A funeral service will be held Friday, December 16, 2022, at 2:00 PM at Freedom Baptist Church with Pastor Jon White, Pastor Tyler Gaulden, and Rev. Earl Malpass officiating. Interment will follow at Crestview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM- 1:45 PM at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Legion Post 290 P.O. Box 432, King, NC 27021
