Her name is sometimes spelled Arpaye, but is spelled "Apaye" in the diary of L.C. Perryman. She was the daughter of Enfolota, sometimes called Miller. He was killed in the Battle of Bird Creek, Cherokee Nation, November 1861.

Apaye married Legus C. Perryman in 1864 at Ft. Gibson, Indian Territory.
