Paula Kay Long, 67 of Danville, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, December 14, 2022 at OSF Sacred Heart in Danville.

Visitation will be from 2-5pm on Saturday, December 17th at Kruger Funeral Home, 10 E. Williams Street in Danville. Services will follow at the funeral home at 5pm with Pastor Andrew Martin officiating. There will be no public burial at this time, but the family invites all of those who loved her to attend a dinner at the Westville American Legion Post 51, immediately following services.

Paula was born on January 8, 1955 in Danville to Paul and Juanita (Hall) Bright.

She attended Westville Schools. Throughout the years Paula worked at Bowman Estates and most recently worked at OSF Sacred Heart in housekeeping. Paula and her former husband Ed owned Long's Countryside Auction Center and Feed Store in Georgetown as well as Long's Quick Stop in Danville. She enjoyed listening to local live music with her friends Carolyn Nightlinger and Linda Phillips, as well as heading to the stores to find the best deals. Paula was an avid Dancing With The Stars fan and never missed an episode. Though she was a workaholic, Paula always made time to make as many ball games and extracurricular events for her grandkids that she could. Road trips to visit Kayla and her children in Missouri were also a favorite.

Paula married Ed Long on August 4, 1972 and though the two later parted ways, her three children-the pride and joy of her life- came from their union. She is survived by her three children: Brandi (Frank) Gabehart, Jessica (Bryce Barnett) Long, and Kayla (Shane Jackson) Long; eleven grandchildren: Danielle (Chris Harden) Gabehart, Courtney (Aaron) Marx, Brooke Gabehart, Destanie (Dominick) Koontz, Brilynn Barnett, Blaiden Long, Kambri Barnett, Clayton Jackson, Lucas Schultz, Leia Jackson, and Leddie Jackson. Her great grandchildren: Addalynn, Alaina, Paxton, Penelope, and Harlow; her two sisters: Janice (Jim) Evans and Barbara Stephens; her brother: Larry Bratton Sr; and her grand puppies Hurley, Lady, and Thor will also miss her greatly.

Messages and memories may be left on our website at www.KrugerCoanPape.com, or on the Kruger Funeral Home Facebook page. Donations may be made in Paula's name to Danville Dialysis Unit or an organization of the donor's choice.
