He attended college at the University of Arkansas were he also played football. Don then served in the airforce from 51-53', finding himself back on the football field becoming a coach, and teacher, in Wagoner, Oklahoma where his passion for the game made such an impression that his name remains atop the 'Donald Rieder Field House'.
Donald is survived by his wife, Nan Riederer of McKinney, Texas; children, Sean Arey of St. Louis, Missouri and Judy Kontorontus of Dallas, Texas; grandchildren, Chase Copeland and wife, Kate of Frisco, Texas and Kali Copeland of Plano, Texas; nephews, Mark Allen Brown, Robert Edward Riederer II (Lil Bob), and Robert DeWayne Long; niece, Dawn Renee Long Butler.
He is proceeded in death by his parents, Carl Edward and Elsie Boyatt; stepson, Brock Arey; Siblings, Dolores Jean Riederer Brown, Robert (Bob) Edward Riederer (Big Bob), and Barbara Ann Riederer Long; niece, Carla Ann Riederer; nephew, Donald Edward Long (Lil Don)
A Memorial Service will be held at 1:30 p.m., Friday, December 16, 2022, at St. Peters Episcopal Church, 400 North College Street, McKinney, Texas 75069.
