PORT ALLEGANY - Paul E. Baker, 89, formerly of Benton Avenue, passed away Thursday (Jan. 24, 2019) in Sweden Valley Manor, Coudersport.
Born Oct. 4, 1929, in Cranberry Township, he was a son of I. Ralph and Dora Irwin Baker.
Mr. Baker was a veteran having served from 1949-53 with the U.S. Army.
After leaving the U.S. Army, he worked at various jobs in Oil City, and later was employed with Viko Furniture Co., Eldred, before his retirement.
He spent his retirement first in Oil City and later in Port Allegany.
Surviving are a sister-in-law, Ruth Baker of Brookfield, Ohio; several nieces and nephews: Theodore Baker of Carthage, N.Y., Stephen Baker of Birmingham, Ala., Suzanne Coard of Port Allegany, Christine Weimer of Roulette, Theresa Hults of New Port Richey, Fla., Barbara Lindsay of Port Allegany, Yevonne Abeles of Deland, Fla., Larry Baker and Darlah Shugarts, both of Brookfield, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Freda A. O'Neil; brothers, Arthur and Ralph Baker; and a sister-in-law, Phyllis A. Baker.
A private graveside service will be held at the Sunset Hill Memorial Gardens, Franklin, at the convenience of the family.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Switzer Funeral Home, Port Allegany.
