Mr. Short worked 33 years as a supervisor at Public Service Indiana in Plainfield before retiring in 1991.
He was a member of Cartersburg Masonic Lodge No. 465.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Harriett (Pringle) Short; a daughter, Bentricia Smith of Plainfield; a son, William Benton "Sonny" Short Jr. of Clayton; a sister, Willa Dean Bicknell of Clayton; three grandsons and two great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were a sister, Imogene Denney, and a brother, Carey Lee Short.
