Michael Earl Asbell, age 65 of the Boiling Spring Lakes Community passed away Saturday, December 10, 2022 at his home.

Michael was born in Wilmington on May 9, 1957. His parents were Enoch Nathaniel Asbell and Ruby Earle Edens Asbell.

Michael was a graduate of Topsail High School, Class of 1975. After high school he served in the US Air Force from August 31, 1976 and was Honorably Discharged on July 1, 1979 with the rank of SGT. He was retired from the 596th US Army Transportation Terminal at the Military Ocean Terminal in Sunny Point where he served in Logistics with 38 years of service.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret "Maggie" Asbell; one daughter and son in-law Bridgit and Jason Sims of Hanover, PA; son Wesley Green; grandson, Steven Sims and wife Miranda Sims of Enola, PA and great grandson, Daniel Sims; sisters, Janice Cavenaugh and husband Tommy of Wilmington and Patricia "Patty" Carter and husband Dale, of Hampstead, NC, along with nieces and nephews and other extended family members.

Funeral services will be held 12 noon Saturday, December 17, 2022 at the Edens Family Cemetery near Surf City, NC led by Rev. Danny Justice. Family visitation will be held starting at 11 am at the Cemetery.
