Broyles, Billy St. John and Gary Coker, both 18, were all killed during a robbery of Broyles' store, Hilltop Grocery, near Princeton. Robert E. White and 2 accomplices, James Owen Livingston and Gary Dale Livingston, used a gun that was obtained from a previous robbery in Waco, in which gun dealer Roy Perryton was stabbed to death. White was executed in 1999 for the murders. Both accomplices were also convicted in the crimes: James Owen Livingston was originally sentenced to die, but his sentence was commuted to life in 1983; Gary Dale livingston was sentenced to 20 years. He was paroled in 1984.
