Joan D. de Beaumont, 87, passed away at her home in New Freedom, PA, surrounded by the love of her family on December 6, 2022. Joan was born in Baltimore, MD, a daughter of the late Joseph and Virginia (Spence) Derwart. She was a devoted wife to the late John P. de Beaumont with whom she shared nearly 65 years of marriage. Joan was dedicated to raising her five children and selfless in her nurturing and care for them. She was continuously giving in thoughtful and kind ways throughout their childhood, adolescence and as adults; regardless of her own challenges. This is how Joan lived. Joan took pride in the appearance of her home and prepared it to be open to those wanting a visit or hosting numerous family gatherings. She made others feel that they were her number one priority and that they felt loved immeasurably. Her love for those close to her spilled over into nature as well. She was a loyal patron to starry nights, sandy beaches, colorful sunsets and flower filled gardens. All of these charged her soul and was the beauty of what we all saw in her. It was her place in the world, as a witness to all things good and inspiring. Joan's memory will be cherished by her five children: Cindy L. Stitz, Linda J. Winters and husband Rich, John M. de Beaumont and wife Ann, Jacqueline "Jackie" M. Burkhardt and husband Joe, and James S. de Beaumont and wife Sharon; 11 grandchildren: Amy, Michelle, David, Josh, John, Paul, Ayla, Ian, Cole, Leah, and Henry; four great grandchildren: Farrah, Cora, Wolfgang and Scottie; a sister Patricia A. Bell and her husband Stewart. There will be a viewing from 11:00 am -1:00 pm on Wednesday, December 14th at Hartenstein Funeral & Cremation Care, Inc., 24 N. Second St., New Freedom, PA 17349.
