Obituary Mrs. E.D. Crane
Louella Iles, second daughter of Thomas and Julia Iles was born at Rosamond, Christian County, Illinois on March 8, 1873. She came with her parents to Pawnee Rock, Kansas when about 6 years of age, living there for three years. At the end of that time, the family homesteaded ten miles east of Larned. There she made her home until she was united in marriage to E.D. Crane, January 20, 1892. To them were born four children, Donna, Ruth, Edgar and Raymond, the youngest died April 19, 1921 at the age of eight years.
Mr. and Mrs. Crane started their married life on a farm east of Mrs. Crane's old home. This was their home until the fall of 1898, when they came to Larned to live, both spending the remainder of their lives here, nearly 36 years. Less than five months ago Mrs. Crane was preceded in death by her husband. They had lived their lives together and were separated by only a few months.
While Mrs. Crane was not a member of any church, for many years she was a member of the Band of Workers of the Presbyterian Church of Larned and sent her children to Sunday school of the same church. During the World War she spent many hours working with the Red Cross doing her part always quietly and unassumingly.
Thursday morning July 19, 1934 at the age of 61 years, 4 months, and 11 days she died after an illness of two years. She is survived by her three children, Mrs. George McDonnell, Mrs. Bruce Levett and Edgar Crane of Larned. Besides these she leaves a sister Mrs. Will Pierce of Kinsley, Kansas; a daughter-in-law Mrs. Edgar Crane, a son-in-law George McDonnell, four grandchildren, two nephews, Spencer and Clinton Ackerman and one niece Mrs. Howard Phinney all of Larned.
Internment was made in the Larned Cemetery.
