Ratliff City, OK — W.E. Coffee, born May 31, 1924, passed from this life April 17, 2010.

He joined the Navy in 1941, and his first duty was retrieving bodies and body parts in Hawaii, following the attack at Pearl Harbor. He then volunteered for PT Boat Duty, where he saw a lot of action. Following the war, he remained and served in the Korean Conflict.

He retired from the Navy in 1961, and worked as a pipe-fitter until he started working for Rocket Oil, where he retired and took care of his parents, aunt, and sister until their demise. He was a very proud and patriotic citizen that enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Gene, or Bill, as he was known to many, was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Dessie; four sisters; and one brother.

He is survived by his sister, Beverly Cook; devoted nieces and nephews; two grandchildren; and several "adopted families."

He followed the example set by his parents by working hard and helping anyone that was trying to help themselves. He will be greatly missed by family and friends.
