Mrs. Metcalf was born on March 24, 1939 in Waller County, Texas to Virgil and Luda Clepper Sheffield. Mrs. Metcalf graduated from Overton High School and attended Kilgore College. She married Johnny Rabon Metcalf on March 30, 1962 in Carthage. Mrs. Metcalf had lived in Beckville most of her adult life and was a member of the New Prospect Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Johnny Rabon Metcalf, who passed away on October 7, 1997; two brothers; and one sister.
Mrs. Metcalf is survived by three sons, Johnny Eugene Metcalf, Bill Wiley Metcalf, and James Wesley Metcalf, all of Beckville; two sisters, Dorothy Mae Chandler and husband Ray, of Bridge City and Irene Williams, of Carthage; two brothers-in-law, Bill Metcalf and wife Thelma, of Athens, and Jewel Metcalf and wife Linda, of Attica, New York; and one sister-in-law, Emma Blakeman, of Carthage. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many friends also survive Mrs. Metcalf.
Serving as pallbearers were Bobby Curry, Allen Metcalf, Bill Metcalf, Robert O'Brien, Dean Hutto, and Raymond Hutto.
