Oscar Lee Blake

Oscar Lee Blake, 79, of Burnsville, passed away on Thursday March 23, 2006, in Stonewall Jackson Hospital after a long illness.

He was a retired blast foreman, a U.S. Army veteran and a native of Wolfpen, Braxton County.

Oscar was preceded in death by his parents, John and Ollie Brown Blake; sisters, Ocie Williams and Ocil Sears; and brothers, Dick, Dewey and Dave Posey.

He is survived by his wife, Sallie Burroughs Blake of Burnsville; sons, Thomas Blake of Burnsville, and Roy Lipps of Heaters; one daughter, Margaret Ann "Margie" Boyd of Winston Salem, N.C.; one sister, Mable Eagle of Burnsville; 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Funeral service will be on Sunday, March 26, at 2 p.m. at Stockert-Gibson Funeral Home in Flatwoods with the Rev. Ronzel Roberts officiating. Burial will be in Stringtown Cemetery, Burnsville. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
