Ron is survived by his wife, Karen T. Johnson; his children, Christa (Andy) Meyer of Ringgold, GA and Shawn (Mary) Johnson of San Jose, CA; brother, Roger Johnson of Lavonia, Michigan; in-laws, Jimmy (Flora) Tucker, Denise (Charlie) O'Dell and Tommy (Ceal) Tucker; many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his father and mother, Hubert and Pauline Johnson of Morristown, Indiana; brother and sister-in-law, Duane and Linda Johnson of Morristown, Indiana; father and mother-in-law, James and Grace Tucker of Washington, Indiana.
Ron was born in Madison County to Hubert and Pauline Johnson, who later moved to Morristown, Indiana where he met and married his high school sweetheart, Karen (Tucker) Johnson, they were married for 61 years.
Ron graduated from Purdue University with his Master's degree and he and Karen lived in California and North Carolina before settling in Dalton, GA in 1972. He worked for Conagra Poultry as Quality Control Manager for 25 years before retiring. Ron could never sit around or keep still so he helped build houses and eventually did odd jobs on his own. He could fix anything and tended to the family and house diligently.
Ron was born to serve, he worked with the Boy Scouts Troop 2 for over 20 years, receiving the 'Silver Beaver Award' in 2005 for his service. He also served as a deacon, elder, and head usher for ChristChurch Presbyterian for several decades. Ron always put others before himself and was there in times of need always. He will be missed by family, many friends, and all who knew him.
A celebration of life service is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 11th at ChristChurch Presbyterian on Tibbs Road. Pastor Eric Geil will officiate.
