Betty Jane Adler - 93 yrs, of Ida, MI - died Monday September 27 at Vibrant Life Senior Living (Temperance, MI). Friends may call at the Capaul Funeral Home, Ida, MI, on Sunday, October 3rd from 2p-8p. Betty was born in Monroe, MI, on 2-9-1928, to Alex and Mary (Fortman) Mahn. Her dad was born in London, England, her mom in Ontario, Canada. Betty started school at 4, was quick-witted and quite ambitious. She graduated from Monroe High School in 1945 at 17. She worked for Mercy Hospital and Bell Telephone, before marriage and also JCPenney.

Betty married her love, Wayne on 2-28-1947. They were happily married for 68yrs. Betty enjoyed living in the country on the farm. Betty took great care of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. When they visited from Colorado Betty held her great-great-grandson, Jaiden.

Later in life, Betty took care of her husband at home and in the nursing home for 2 and a half years, until his death on July 16th, 2015. Betty said, "Wayne was the best" and she missed him dearly. Her son, Tom checked in on her daily or Jason her grandson did. Betty enjoyed cards, dominos, puzzles and reading. She was also a 4-H leader. Betty also loved traveling back to Canada, to visit "kinfolk" in Binbrook, Ontario.

Betty faithfully attended Prince of Peace when able, taught Sunday and Bible School and worked at the funeral dinners for years. Betty drove until she was 91. Betty also enjoyed Bedford Senior Citizens playing Euchre of course. On Sundays in the past, she enjoyed lunch and grocery shopping with her grandson, Jason after church services as he lived much closer than her grandson, Daniel.

Survivors include: her children, John (Debbie), Tom (Gloria), Jane (Tom) Opfermann; siblings, Mary (Derek) Funk, Dorothy (Donald) Bezeau; 8 grandchildren, Heather, Brandee, John Jr., Jason, Daniel, Daphine, Amber, Mike; 11 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and brothers, Edward and Donald.

We will miss Betty J. Adler with her unique personality and her compassionate, lovely ways. She would always say, "I'm fine and dandy". Peace be with you all.
