Jessie Neville Lewis of Agoura Hills, formerly of Camarillo, died May 18, 2004, in Woodland, Hills.
Mrs. Lewis was born March 9, 1914, in Byron, Wyo., the daughter of Leo Jennings Neville and Carrie Hatch Neville, early settlers in Wyoming's Big Horn Basin. She grew up and attended school in Byron, Wyo. After graduating from high school, she moved to Provo, Utah, where she met her future husband, Murray Roy Lewis. They were married May 31, 1938, in Salt Lake City, Utah. They are the parents of two sons, Brent and Wayne. Jessie was trained in cosmetology, a profession she pursued most of her life. She was also an accomplished artist. In 1953, the family moved to Santa Monica, Calif. Jessie taught cosmetology at El Camino College for 20 years, retiring in 1976. After retiring, Jessie and Murray moved to Camarillo. Jessie was active in her church and in 1981, Jessie and Murray served as missionaries for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in southern Utah. Murray passed away in 1998. Jessie was greatly loved and admired by her family, friends and work associates. She celebrated her 90th birthday in March of this year.
Jessie is survived by her sons, Brent Lewis of San Leandro, Calif., and Wayne Lewis of Agoura Hills; sister, Sigrid Crandall of Centerville, Utah; brother, Edwin Neville of Byron, Wyo.; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 22, at Conejo Mountain Memorial Park, Camarillo, with Bishop Stephen Banks officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Conejo Mountain Memorial Park and Funeral Home, Camarillo.
