Georglyn Dolly Strickland
FEBRUARY 17, 1950 – DECEMBER 3, 2022

On Saturday, December 3, 2022, Georglyn "Dolly" Strickland, age 72, passed away peacefully in Pensacola, Florida. She was surrounded by family and friends that loved her deeply.
Dolly was born in Pensacola, Florida on February 17, 1950. She is the daughter of the late James Moses Avery and Leeola Davis Coleman. She married the late Howard E. (Deacon) Strickland on August 1, 1975. She was a graduate of W.J. Woodham High School, Class of 1968. She was an active member of Saint Anne's Catholic Church and was a member of the Legion of Mary. Dolly retired from the State of Florida, Department of Revenue, Child Support Enforcement after more than 30 years of service.

Dolly enjoyed cooking savory chili as well as baking delicious pound cakes, scrumptious muffins, and beautiful sugar cookies for her family and friends. She loved the New Orleans Saints and the Buffalo Bills. Retired Buffalo Bills quarterback, Jim Kelly, once commented that Dolly reminded him of his mother who was also very caring. Additionally, Dolly was passionate about the U.S. Navy Blue Angels so much so that she named her SUV Fat Albert.

Dolly was blessed with a large and loving family. She is survived by her daughter, Wendy Stacey (David); her son, Howard Justus Strickland (Danielle); her grandson, Christian; her sisters, Zoia Avery Holland (David Decd) and Lee Avery Knowles (Calvin Otto); her brothers, James Myron Avery (Janis), Mark Avery (Penny), and Matthew Avery (Kathy); numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband and her parents.

Dolly will be greatly missed by her family and friends and always remembered in their hearts.

A visitation for Georglyn will be held Wednesday, December 21, 2022 from 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM at St. Anne's Catholic Church, 5200 Saufley Field Rd, Pensacola, FL 32526. A rosary service will occur Wednesday, December 21, 2022 from 11:30 AM to 12:00 PM, 5200 Saufley Field Rd, Pensacola, FL 32526. A funeral service will occur Wednesday, December 21, 2022 at 12:00 PM, 5200 Saufley Field Rd, Pensacola, FL 32526.
