Brigham City- Ella Potter Hunsaker, 91, passed away Monday, April 2, 2001 at her home.
She was born September 27, 1909 in Rockland, Idaho at the home of her maternal grandparents (Joseph & Lucinda Allen). Her great-aunt Sarah Allen Lasley was the midwife. She was the second child of eight children born to John and Martha Potter.
Her parents had a ranch on Dempsey Creek near Lava Hot Springs, Idaho.
She attended school in Lava Hot Springs, where she excelled in all her classes. She also played basketball on the girls team (they played before the boys games).
Ella married Abraham Hunsaker IV in 1928 at Pocatello, Idaho. Judge Warren Hyde (Stake President) performed the ceremony.
They lived in Lava, where their three daughters were born, until 1941 when they moved to Brigham City. She loved to work in her yard. She made beautiful quilts for her twelve grandchildren, and some nieces, plus lots of baby quilts. She helped quilt at Relief Society for many years.
They loved to travel in the winter time, when Abe wasn't so busy. They would visit their families in California, Washington, & Arizona.
Ella and Abe have three daughters, Janice Ayala of Honeyville, Margene Blanch of West Weber, and Mrs. Jack (Ivolene)Allen of Brigham City. She has twelve grandchildren, thirty-one great-grandchildren, and seventeen great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years. Her parents, two sisters, and five brothers.
Graveside services will be held Friday April 6, 2001 at the Brigham City Cemetery.
In case of inclement weather, services will be held at the Myers Mortuary, 205 South 100 East, Brigham City, UT.
Friends may call on Thursday, April 5, 2001 at the Mortuary from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Friday from 10:00 to 10:40 a.m.
