Mary Mae (Beckner) Boggess exchanged the old rugged cross for a crown on Friday, December 2, 2022, in the presence of her two devoted children at Holzer Medical Center in Gallipolis, Ohio, after a short illness.

Mary was born in Henderson, WV on October 5, 1936, to Ethel Ada (Henry) and Colbert Beckner in their family's home. Mary, ever a hard-working and an overcoming woman, worked her way through high school, employed as a waitress at Gene Ball's Restaurant in Point Pleasant, WV, walking the long trip between home, work, and school.

After graduating from Point Pleasant High School, Mary married Stanley James Schenavar and the couple moved to Michigan where they were blessed with their two children, Diane Mary and Thomas Edward. The family moved back to the Point Pleasant area a few years before Stan passed away in 1979. Several years later, Mary married Griffin Wood Boggess with whom she was married until his death in 1997.

Mary will ever be remembered for her loving and thoughtful ways, in addition to her creativity, humor, and quick wit. She loved to laugh, but even more, she loved to bring joy to those around her. Mary loved to tell others that she walked five miles every day (with "five miles" being a nickname for her dog, Lady). Spending time with Mary would always bring a smile to your face and warmth to your heart.

Mary was a devoted wife, daughter, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She loved her family well and endeavored to make moments together special – whether it was a holiday or just an ordinary day.

Mary loved Jesus and wanted others to love and follow Him also. She was a founding member of Pathway Community Church of Gallipolis, OH where she was an active and beloved member, and served as historian for years. She was an amazing "snack lady" and did so many other things to serve the Lord there. She was a member of Camp Conley CEOS (Homemakers) Club and in the past had served in many office roles including President and Scrapbook Keeper, for which she was recognized. Mary also served as the Mason County CEOS President as well and was once recognized as County Club Woman of the Year. She was also a member of Point Pleasant Chapter 75 of Order of Eastern Stars. Mary was an avid gardener and loved her many flower gardens.

In addition to her parents, as well as Stanley and Griffin, Mary is preceded in death by her brothers, Frank Henry, David Joe, Thomas Lee, James Arnold, and Russell Edward.

Mary is survived by her two children, Diane Mary (Thom) Mollohan and her son, Thomas Edward Schenavar, all of Gallipolis, OH. Her beloved grandchildren who were her pride and joy: Benjamin T. (Kayla) Mollohan of Moundsville, WV, Zachary J. Mollohan, Andrew G. Mollohan, and Hannah K. Mollohan all of Gallipolis, Ohio. As well as her two great grandchildren who she always said made her great- Judah B. Mollohan and Augustine P. Mollohan of Moundsville, WV.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, December 6, 2022, at the Wilcoxen Funeral Home in Point Pleasant, WV, with Pastor Thom Mollohan officiating. Burial will follow at the Kirkland Memorial Gardens in Point Pleasant, WV. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the funeral service Tuesday at the funeral home.
