CHESSON. That man (George W.) was born Nov. 1874 in Ala., according to 1900 census household of parents W. & Callie Chancler (sic) in Precinct 9 Campbells, Geneva Co., Ala.; brothers John (15) & Nora (? 14) are present, and brother Wyley (21) is living next door with wife Alma. George W. is aged 35 yrs. (so born about 1875) with 1st wife Nettie on the 1910 census of Campbells (Beat 9) in Geneva County and aged 47 yrs. (so born about 1873) with 2nd wife Lizzie on the 1920 census of the same place. George W. Chancellor is divorced, aged 56 yrs. (so born about 1874) and residing alone on the 1930 census of Precinct 9, Chancellor, Geneva Co., Ala.; next door, also living alone is widower John W. Chancellor, aged 88 yrs., who is perhaps this George W.'s father. On the 1940 census of Precinct 35, East Pensacola, Escambia Co., Fla., Geo. W. Chancellor, aged 63 yrs. A newspaper obit reports that George Washington Chancellor died Nov. 20, 1962, aged 92 yrs. (so born about 1870) in a South Florida (sic) hospital, having been a resident of Escambia County for 28 years. An index of Florida deaths shows George Washington Chancellor died in Nov. 1962 in Gadsden County, Fla. So he didn't die in 1917 and was not born in the 1840s. The dates presently on Memorial #126830158 (1841 - 11 JUN 1917) are incorrect.
